On November 24, 2011, the Managers’ Association of Russia announced the best corporate social responsibility projects as part of its “People Investor 2011” Forum. Firefly’s collaborative project with KPMG and USAID in Nizhny Novgorod won first place in the “Developing Local Communities” category.
Firefly has been making a profound impact on the lives of children and families in Russia since 2000. This important organization was founded to meet the tremendous need for reform, prevention and education in communities where children are placed in institutions due to disability, poverty, parental mental illness, and other challenges. In order to make a positive and lasting impact, Firefly focuses its efforts on:
- Training government officials and healthcare, education, and social services providers on topics such as direct intervention and policy reform
- Connecting Russian child welfare professionals with their Western peers to share information and experience
- Providing technical assistance in areas such as program implementation and evaluation
- Disseminating best practices in child welfare reform
