All of Firefly’s programs aim to prevent the institutionalization of infants and young children.
Firefly has already conducted intensive three-year training programs for healthcare professionals in Vladivostok and Kazan, Russia. These programs trained practitioners to develop support services for Russian families raising children with disabilities.
Currently Firefly is collaborating with KPMG and USAID on a three-year training program for healthcare, education and social services professionals in Nizhny Novgorod Region, Russia. This program trains practitioners to develop support services for Russian families that are socially at-risk, raising children with disabilities, and fostering or adopting children from institutions.
In addition, Firefly is conducting a series of seminars for teachers at one of St. Petersburg's top schools for children with autistic spectrum disorder. This education program is sponsored by a private Russian donor.
Firefly receives many training requests from cities throughout Russia and the former Soviet Union.
